Annie Sloan transfer metal leaf (Transfer Leaf) is the ideal option for gilding large surfaces, such as walls or large pieces of furniture. Unlike loose metal leaf, this leaf is slightly adhered to tissue paper, making it very easy to pick up and apply, always with the tissue facing upward.

About each finish:

• Gold (Imitation Gold Leaf) - also known as “Dutch Gold”, it is made of brass. It darkens over time, so applying a layer of Clear Chalk Paint™ Wax over the gilded surface is recommended to protect it
• Silver (Imitation Silver Leaf) - made of aluminum. To achieve an aged silver look, apply a light layer of Clear and Dark Chalk Paint™ Wax
• Copper (Copper Leaf) - made of real copper, which also darkens over time. Apply a layer of Clear Chalk Paint™ Wax over the surface to protect it

How to apply it:

1. Apply the Gold Size - spread an even layer of Annie Sloan Gold Size over the surface
2. Wait for the drying time - allow the Gold Size to reach the right tackiness
3. Place the transfer leaf - position the leaf on the surface with the tissue facing upward and press gently
4. Remove the tissue paper - peel away the tissue, leaving the metal leaf adhered to the surface
5. Remove the excess - use a soft brush to remove any pieces that have not adhered
6. Protect the finish - apply the appropriate Chalk Paint™ Wax according to the metal used

Professional tip: For large surfaces, work in sections and slightly overlap the sheets to avoid un-gilded gaps.
